Publication day

Thought I’d be really excited today but, to be honest, I’ve felt tense. It’s one thing enjoying writing in the privacy of my study but today those words are ‘out there’ in the public domain ready to be read, scrutinised, critically assessed or just ignored.

Today everyone I know will receive a mail shot I sent out earlier in the week telling them about my novel. Most aren’t even aware I’ve been working on this for the past couple of years and the genesis of the ideas for the story goes back much further.

I plucked up the nerve to see the manager of my local Waterstones and he’s agreed to order half dozen copies “to see how it goes” and if it sells well then “he’ll go big”. Didn’t like to ask him what he meant by that but the mind boggles…
